Flat Stanley Sees Longhorns in Texas

Flat Stanley Sees Longhorns in Texas

By Maren M.

Flat Stanley went with my family to Texas. When we got to Ft. Worth, we got to visit Aunt Tonya and Uncle Jason. We did lots of fun things.

First we went to the hotel and Flat Stanley and I played “baby toys” with Magda. We also got to go swimming. Flat Stanley pretended he couldn’t swim and daddy saved him. I said, “Are you Superdaddy?”

One of the best things we saw was the longhorns. They were big cows that had really big horns and they were coming right down the street!!! Flat Stanley didn’t listen and one of the longhorns picked him right up and carried him away! I followed them and when the longhorns stopped moving I threw him a rope and Stanley jumped off. He was so glad. He said, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are a great friend.”

When we got home Flat Stanley couldn’t stop talking about Texas, so we sent him to visit Uncle Jason and Aunt Tonya.

Flat Stanley Goes to Salina on a Train

Flat Stanley Goes to Salina on a Train

by Great Aunt Cindy

Dear Maren,

Your friend, Flat Stanley, arrived in Salina on June 11th. We (Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jeff) arrived early on the 11th at the train station to pick him up. At first I thought how will I know what he looks like but I soon discovered he has a very unique physique. We were delighted to meet Flat Stanley. At first he was really shy and quiet, but after we talked a lot about his train ride, it was like we were all best friends.

Since the train station is right by the Dairy Queen we decided to stop there and we all got a small Vanilla cone, except Uncle Jeff. He wanted a chocolate one. Then we went to our house where Flat Stanley met our two Boxer dogs, Greta and Sophie. He loved running and playing with them. Flat helped us with a lot of the chores; mowing grass, pulling weeds, planting flowers, just lots of activities. In the evenings we would eat dinner (he sure likes corn on the cobb) and we would sit outside until the mosquitoes started biting.

One night Flat Stanley and I were sitting on the front step and out of the clear blue a big fat TOAD jumped out of the hostas plant and landed right in front of us on the sidewalk. The TOAD said, “I am so full, I have been eating so many mosquitoes I cannot move an inch.”

Flat Stanley said, “You better hide. They have two Boxer dogs who will try to scare you away.” So the toad hurridly hopped over and stayed under the hostas plant until early morning. But every night the toad and Flat Stanley would visit and talk about the stars and the worries of the world. They became very good friends. The toad invited Flat to go fishing over the 4th of July and they camped out for about three days.

Flat Stanley came back and said he met the toad’s friend, “Tony”, the turtle. They all got along. Anyway, Flat Stanley enjoyed his time with us. We also took him to Salina and showed him all the sights; the Municipal Swimming Pool, the park and even where Aunt Cindy and her brother Mike went to Kindergarten.

Then just today Flat Stanley said, “I really need to get back to Abilene to see my good friend Maren, I think she has started kindergarten and I need to see how she likes it and I miss her sooooo much.

So Flat Stanley said goodbye to the fat toad, the turtle, Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jeff. They took him to the train station today at 12:00 p.m. He had so much fun. Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jeff kept him busy. He was a wonderful guest.

p.s. Be sure to check Flat Stanley’s pocket to make sure Fat Toad didn’t ride along!

Flat Stanley Goes to Narnia

Flat Stanley Goes to Narnia
By Maren M.

One day when I was going to Narnia I was a little scared so I brought along my friend, Flat Stanley. He didn’t want to come because he was scared so I let him ride on my back. The first thing we saw was a giant made of stone, but my dad said it was made out of plastic. Then we got to go into the wardrobe. When we opened the door everything was different. It was snowing on us and we didn’t know what to do. We saw the White Witch’s throne and Stanley sat on it. I was excited to sit there too and I accidentally sat on top of him. When I got up he was frozen to the chair! My mom and I peeled him off of the throne and gave him a coat to wear. He was soooooo cold we needed to warm him up so we made him some pancakes. He told my mom “thank you” and looked for the bus to go home. We decided to go to Fritz’s for lunch and then explore at Crayola and he thought that sounded like fun so he went with us. At Fritz’s Stanley said, “I would like to ride a train like that”, so we decided to send him to Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jeff.

Flat Stanley at the Soccer Game

Flat Stanley at the Soccer Game
by Allison L.

One day some kids were getting ready for their soccer game. In the middle of the game everyone was running trying to get the ball and they didn't see Stanley and so they ran right over him. He was flat on the ground. My mom and dad carried him to the van since he was my friend.
In our backyard he had fun jumping on the trampoline, but sometimes we accidentally jumped on him. When it was time to go down the slide, he kind of pushed me and I almost fell off. After he went down the slide we thought it was time to visit Maren M.

Thanks for coming, Stanley

Flat Stanley's Trouble at Country Mart

Flat Stanley’s Trouble at Country Mart
By Maren M.

One day I was at Country Mart. Suddenly I heard a BOOM! I ran to the place where I heard the noise. I saw Stanley Lambchop with bookshelves on him and he was flat as a pancake. I told mommy that we should take care of our friend today and when we get done, we can send him back to his house. He was kind of flat so I told my mom that we should get him out of this place. We took him home and gave Stanley his book about him, called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. We also made him pankcakes ‘cuz that’s what the Doctor said. Then we went to the park and Flat Stanley made a bad decision. He pushed me off of the swing because there was only one swing and he couldn’t wait his turn. My mommy said, “maybe it’s time for Stanley to take another trip”, so we put him in an envelope and sent him in the mail to … Allison L.!
